Take off the air box cover and test ride if it runs better it is running rich if worse put it back on and tape off half of the air hole on the air box and test ride again. Both are incorrect fixes for plug fouling. It's all in the jetting. I am trying to revive a bone stock 1984 Kawasaki GPz 550. The jets are correct per the shop manual. It's running waaaaay to rich; even with the air filter removed. The reason for the popping is that the lean flame burns longer thus going out the exhaust (I could be wrong on this) Okay so heres what I found : Pulled all 4 plugs.
